Navigating the Emanations of Venus

Venus rx 2025

5 - cazimi: netherworld journey

Recorded on the applying Venus-Sun Conjunction (Cazimi), we journey deeply in the land of the uttermost west, at the gate of Sunset, at the road's end, deep into the mountain of the Netherworld. We seek the Light that has fallen to Earth, we seek what has been lost, in search of the Great Light of Heaven. This journey is recorded without the use of any music, so please feel free to use whatever gets you into that place. Please take a moment over the next few days, especially prior to seeking Venus as Morning Star!

This particular apparition of Venus is taking place while at a very high northerly declination, remaining a thin crescent the entire time. Though obscured by the light of the Sun, this large-thin crescent of Venus is crowning the Exalted Sun, now in tropical Aries, as the Sun makes it's way to the partial solar eclipse of late March. For some parts of the world, the Sun will also become a crescent, crowed by a crescent.

4 - Venus paradox

As Venus makes the descent to Earth, we have the opportunity for encounter as the last appearances of the Venus Evening Star for this apparition come to an end. The journey into the netherworld begins.

At this threshold, we encounter and contemplate Inana-Kur, the underworld Innana, revealing the naked paradox, commonly veiled by Venus, but seen so very clearly through the Sumerian eyes.

Below you will find some of my suggested readings of relevant contemporary reflections and the best poetic translation of The Hymn to Inanna.

I would suggest that you first work with the Hymn, returning to it again and again, and then undertake the remaining readings this in this order: “Embodiment of Mystery”, Except from “My time is come”, “Inanna-Ishtar as Paradox and a Coincidence of Opposites”, and, finally, the Introduction to The Complete Poems of Enheduanna.

There is no pressure to read all of this. If you were to read only one, I would suggest Alkistis’ article “Embodiment of Mystery”.

Lastly, I would like to encourage you to allow some practice to develop using sections of the Hymn along with movement and adding some intonations, recording your experiences.

3 - The Descent to Earth

As Venus descends to Earth, there is the unique opportunity to prepare for contact and potential transmission, literally this light meeting us on our horizon, and also prepare for the hidden journey that will give birth to Venus as Morning Star. In this video I outline some of the features related to these two phases of descent and how we may begin to navigate them within our own contexts.

2 - Venus Story and experience

And so we begin, honouring Venus Station at Tropical 10 Aries with a sharing of Story and Experience!

In Tyson Yunkaporta’s book Right Story, Wrong Story, “right” story fosters connection and balance, emphasising the interdependence between the human and more-than-human worlds.  Such stories honour diverse viewpoints and embrace contradictions. Equally, they are cultivated through collective process, where every contribution is valued.

This first session was an attempt to engage in some open, inclusive dialogue so that we may better begin to shape story relating to Venus and the Retrograde portion of Venus’ synodic cycle.

How we think with these processes matter. As Donna Harraway points out in Staying with the Trouble, “it matters what stories we use to tell stories.”

1 - From the Great Heaven to the Great Below and Rising Again

Combining ritual and observance, we join the flow of the living effluence of Venus’ presences, spirits, and materia. Engaging directly within the visible and hidden phases of Venus, we move from abstractions, interpretations, prediction, and displaced story to encounter, revelation, prophecy, and story that is situated and living.

The Queen of Heaven descends to earth seeking the crossroad ushering the underworld way…

Venus is the planet of desire and connection, of beauty and refinement, and of pleasure and play. Learn about the astrology of this Venus Retrograde in Aries and Pisces, and join the spiralling dance of Venus through practices, contemplations, provocations, and reflections drawing from astrology, lore, mysticism, magic, and witchcraft.

Over time and place, the cycle of Venus plays a fundamental role in timekeeping and is equally richly storied. The shift from Evening Star to Morning Star is filled with journeys of trails and transfigurations, brilliancy and darkness, disappearance and death are accompanied by urges for withdrawal and purification leading towards refinement, renewal, and rebirth, reflecting both deep spiritual and magical themes and outer expressions of conflict, chaos, and catharsis.

For many, contemporary magical and mystical practice of this period is one of shadow work, reclaiming lost power, encounters with death, and preparing for rebirth, echoing the wisdom that true, harmony, beauty, and love are forged through trials in the unseen realms. By applying astral magic, we have the capacity to go deeper by incorporating simple to elaborate ritual and practice—offerings, hymn, trance, movement, and journeying—and direct observation to witness one of the most striking celestial transformations visible to the naked eye.

In particular, this Venus Rx from 1st of March until 12th of April, invites us to connect with the mysteries of the Tropical Aries, the Equinotal axis, into Pisces which holds the Stars of the Constellation of Pisces. Aries will soon be a sign of great importance for the unfolding of world events as Saturn and Neptune will soon ingress into Aries and Venus’ rebirth within this sign is a powerful opportunity to experience the potentiality of these times. Venus Retrograde offers a chance to review our desires, our connections, our loves, and our passions, our valuations, and our openness.

Venus Talismans

Queen of the Three Worlds: Venus Exaltation Talisman—Sensuality, Healing, Beauty, Good Fortune
£240.00

These bespoke Venus Talismans are hand-carved on a large lapis lazuli cabochon as Venus was culminating on the Midheaven with the Waxing-Crescent Moon conjoining all in Pisces, the sign of Venus’ exaltation. They were completed and consecrated during a full ritual on an auspicious election on the 3rd of January 2025. At this time Venus was dazzling the world as an evening star.

While in the nocturnal sign of Pisces, the telos and intention entwined within the talisman is to embody the power of the Venus expressed within the sign of her exaltation: beauty, good fortune, sensuality, healing, and gracefulness.

When a planet is in its exaltation, it performs very cleanly, free from extremes, and it is treated like an honoured guest, or as a magistrate who is in their own court, free to make their own rules. Venus exaltation expresses deeply the combined expression of goddess of fertility and goddess of heaven.

Such that Venus acts in profoundly healing and sensuous ways granting the bearer to do the same, for themselves and others — to be in touch with deep life-giving desires, pleasures, and passions, those that move them in the direction of profoundly erotic and healing ways within the Venusian psychic/spiritual domain and physical expression, including the healthy function of the kidneys, loins, and vascular tissues.

Equally, this talisman will grant the ability to accentuate one’s best qualities, both in charm and physicality, so as to be “loved by everybody and you will be well-known and seem sweet-voiced not only to human beings but also to gods.”

There is a uniquely subtle and profound effect at play here, a shimmering that grants us access to the flowing quality of experience. In particular, one can access realms of cosmic beauty, opening access to the sensuousness of one’s being in the sensate world, along with the ability to open this door for others.

Aphrodite let down your hair!

This particular design is my version of “Aphrodite unbinding her hair”. It is inspired by lapis magical gems that were carried by the peoples of the Hellenistic Mediterranean around the 1st century CE.

On the back is a name written in two lines of Greek letters.  This is Aphrodite’s secret and magical name, ΑΡΩΡΙΦΡΑΣΙΣ, pronounced Arorifrasis, which can be translated in modern Greek as “aroma”. This name, however, means much more.

Some scholars have speculated that “the magical name of Aphrodite, ΑΡΩΡΙΦΡΑΣΙΣ, would express perfectly the goddess's duality by calling her goddess of fertility and goddess of heaven in one name, thus combining for the talisman wearer all the powers of the celestial Aphrodite Ourania and the popular Aphrodite Pandemos.”

Each talisman is approximately 30mm x 22mm and will be fitted with a sterling silver pendant bail.

Everything comes from you:

you have yoked the world,

you control all three realms,

you give birth to all,

to everything in heaven,

to everything upon the fruitful earth,

to everything in the depths of the sea,

O venerable companion of Bacchos.

-Orphic Hymn to Aphrodite (Athanassakis & Wolkow, trans)

Sovereigns of the Boundless Sea: Venus-Neptune Talisman—Glamour, Artistic & Mystical Power, Abundance & Eminence
£440.00

The Sovereigns of the Boundless Sea talismans were hand-carved on faceted-oblongs of lapis lazuli as Venus and Neptune were conjunct in Pisces during 2024 and 2025, utilising the final conjunctions of these planets in Pisces in this century. These astrological conditions will not occur again until the later part of the 22nd Century.

Work began in a ritual timed to the apply Venus-Neptune conjunction of 2024, at which moment the lines of Greek letters were engraved followed by an initial consecration. They were then sealed with an appropriate vessel to await their completion the following year.

The engraving process was completed with the addition of the deities, the talismans were suffumigated, and finally consecrated during a ritual on the 1st of February 2025 as the applying conjunction of Venus and Neptune was culminating on the Midheaven with the Waxing-Crescent Moon conjoining in Pisces, the traditional sign of Venus’ exaltation and the modern domicile of Neptune.

At this time Venus was dazzling the world brightly as an evening star while Neptune, invisible to the naked eye, churned the cosmic depths for the final time in the sign of Pisces.

The telos and intention entwined within the talisman is to embody the powers of these oceanic lords: beneficent glamour, all supreme expressions of artistic and mystical prowess, and the boundless awards of such fecundity.

The engaged bearer of this talisman will be guided and taught by the principal masters of this domain, opening untold sensate and psychic worlds of untold cosmic beauty, wonder, and even transcendence. As such, they will effortlessly obtain both creative and generative power, guide others to profound states of experience, and maintain boundless abundance. Both Venus and Neptune grant powerful influence over the seas, their movements and associated spirits and beasts. Neptune grants the ability to control the weather at sea, calming storms and enhacing fair conditions.

One side of the talisman features the deities Aphrodite-Venus, crowned holding an apple in one hand and a mirror in the other, and Poseidon-Zeus-Helios, crowned holding lightning that radiates above as well as below and a trident, as inspired by magical gems that were carried by the peoples of the Hellenistic Mediterranean around the 1st century CE.

On the back is a name written in lines of Greek letters is a combination of Aphrodite’s secret and magical name, ΑΡΩΡΙΦΡΑΣΙΣ, and Poseidon's magical name, ΣΥΟΕΛΚΟΙΛΗ. In the corners of the stone on both sides you will find a symbol for each deity, one a circle with a single line extending downwards, the other a circle with three lines radiating downwards. These are enigmatic symbols and their exact origin is unknown.

Each talisman will be fitted with a sterling silver bar and pendant loop.

Drop of the Boundless Sea: Venus-Neptune Talisman - Taste of Transcendence—
£125.00

The Drop of the Boundless Sea talismans were hand-carved on lapis lazuli teardrops, suffumigated, and finally consecrated during a ritual on the 1st of February 2025 as the applying conjunction of Venus and Neptune was culminating on the Midheaven with the Waxing-Crescent Moon conjoining in Pisces, the traditional sign of Venus’ exaltation and the modern domicile of Neptune, utilising the final conjunctions of these planets in Pisces in this century.

These astrological conditions will not occur again until the later part of the 22nd Century.

At this time Venus was dazzling the world brightly as an evening star while Neptune, invisible to the naked eye, churned the cosmic depths for the final time in the sign of Pisces.

The telos and intention entwined within the talisman is to encounter and to be changed by the power of transcendence of these oceanic lords, coming to awaken supreme expressions of artistic and mystical prowess, and the boundless awards of such fecundity.

Each side of the lapis drop bears the symbol of the respective deities: for Venus, a circle with a single line extending downwards and for Neptune, a circle with three lines radiating downwards. These are enigmatic symbols that are found on magical gems worn by those of the Hellenistic Mediterranean in the 1st century CE. As they are enigmatic, their exact origin is unknown.

All are approximately 20 mm in length and each talisman will be fitted with a sterling silver pendant bail.

Spica Talisman - Queen of the Sylphs - Star of Beauty and Reason
£260.00

These talismans were crafted on 16th June 2025 as Spica was rising with the Waxing Moon applying by conjunction to Spica. There is one remaining, a rolled 14k-gold-on-brass pendant with a 4mm x 6 mm oval cabochon.

This election features unique support from Venus and Mercury, the planetary nature to which Spica is associated in traditional sources. The waxing Moon is applying to Spica by conjunction and will then connect by trine to the Sun, Mercury, and Venus, which due its infrequency as a condition make this a uniquely powerful heaven to craft a talisman under.

Spica, Alpha Virginis, the brightest star in the constellation of Virgo, the Virgin, held within tropical Libra, is known from the traditional sources of western astral-magic to cause the wearer to accumulate wealth; to be delivered swiftly from and take away distress and difficulty; to conquer in all challenges, such as lawsuits; it confers honesty and joyfulness, freeing us to enjoy life’s simple, refined, and virtuous pleasures. It is associated with the natures of Mercury and Venus, and known as the ‘Star of Beauty and Reason’. Emerald and its associated virtues proceed from this star. The associated herbs enhance, along with emerald, equally cause the bearer to accumulate wealth

From the great synthesis of knowledge found in Rosenberg’s Secret of the Ancient Skies, as well as the work of many past and contemporary astral magicians, which resonates with those of other astrological traditions, we can add the following associations. Spica grants prominence, honour, power, and extraordinary gifts. Gifts associated with learning, ‘ecclesiastical preferment’, and the arts. It leads one to be well-educated, and to strengthen literary, artistic, and musical ability. Spica grants a deep connection with wellspring of inspiration. Enhanced productivity as it relates to these skills is also tied to Spica.

These Spica Talismans are to be crafted with exceedingly green Emeralds (4mm round and 6mm x 4mm oval cabochons) marked with the seal of Spica given in the De Quindecim Stellis and related sources. The stellar seal and stone are combined with Sage, ‘a useful and healing herb’ and other related plants as per the instructions given in the sources. This will take place during a ritual culminating to the rising of the Moon with Spica on the Ascendant. The celestial configuration of the Moon with Spica then applying by trine to the associated planets Mercury and Venus, as well as the Sun, who is the ruler of the day and hour of the election, is both synergistic and rare. But Spica who we learn in the grimoire tradition is ‘friend of the Sun and of the Moon’, there is powerful support from both luminaries which are on the wax. Spica is connected across time and place with the coming of Spring, as well as the power of Autumn, and the abundances of both.

This configuration will not occur again until 2028. During which Uranus in Gemini perhaps adds instability to the conditions. Afterwards it will not occur until 2043. While similar heavenly conditions will appear, making such a talisman approachable in 2041, with Venus and Mercury in Libra, due to these planets affection for the Sun, the Moon will always be hidden in the rays of the Sun or balsamic, and at this point the light of the Sun is on the wane and in his detriment.

To the Babylonians, Spica was MUL.ABSIN, the Furrow, representing the goddess of weather and grain, Shala, the consort of the weather god Adad. The Furrow is often prayed to, along with other important stars and asterisms to gain favour and remove evil in the cuneiform knowledge of Mesopotamia. Together with the Frond, the remaining western half of what we know as the constellation Virgo, are tied to, as Gavin White writes, “autumnal abundance of the earth as symbolised by these two goddesses of the Frond and the Furrow, which respectively represent the two cultivated foodstuffs of Babylonia - dates and barley…they made their annual appearance as the dates started to ripen.” Equally, Spica is linked to the goddess Ishtar.

For the ancient Greeks,Spica was associated with Demetra and her shaft of wheat. For the ancient Egyptians, this star was the “Star of Prosperity” and was tied to Isis and Hathor.

Spica is known as Chitrā, “the bright one”in Jyotisha and is the namesake and anchor for the associated nakshatra. This is Spica as the many coloured, bright jewel and ruled by Tvastr, the heavenly architect, who, along with his children possess the power of great skill, maya and magic.

For the Chinese it is known as Jiǎo Sù yī, “the First Star of the Horn” of Qīnglóng,the Great Azure Dragon God of Spring.

In Arabic known as al-Simak, “the Unarmed One”, linking it to peace and healing.

In Jack Stratton-Kent’s work Cyprian’s Office of Spirits, we are introduced to grimoire sources that give Spica as the palace of Paralda, Queen of the Sylphs, “which are spread in the air, these are the prettiest and kindest creatures in the world.” Paralda, their queen, is known to introduce practitioners to these air spirit-people who act as “intermediates between man and immaterial creatures.” The Sylphians “cultivate literature, music, and the occult sciences, and have a passionate love of dance and perfumes”, they aid those who are worthy of their attention.

Each talisman comes with a jute pouch and a small amount of associated herbs and resins.

On rolled 14k gold on brass, these are more expensive than sterling silver, but are also very fitting. Gold filled findings for jewellery making. "Rold gold" (or "filled gold") comprises a solid layer of 14k gold 14k permanently bonded to brass. The minimum layer of gold must equal at least 1/20th the weight of the total item. It is very hard wearing and under normal wear the gold will not peel or flake, unlike gold plate, and is commonly used as a more economical alternative to pure gold. Email me if you have any questions
