A little bit about me

While I would LOVE to take on the title of polymath, I am afraid that such titles are restricted to true geniuses. I am not cut from that cloth. Instead, several years ago, I altered the well cliche about a jack of all trades to say, “Jack of all trades, mastering some.” My logic is that given enough time with consistency of practice and learning, you are bound to eventually get better, dare I say decent, at a multitude of things that you obsessively engage. Some focus of course helps, and luckily I was shown the way early on.

Like many of our kind, the wyrd got me early. I started as a child through art, play, and copious amounts of time in nature. At the age of 13 I began to practice witchcraft, yoga, meditation, and healing with herbs, hands, and magic; to play with stars and cards- astrology and tarot.

At university I studied Anthropology. I have a degree form the New College of Florida. I still write and practice anthropology, studying religious experience, animism, magic, education, and the imaginal. I have the intention of pursuing a Doctorate when the time comes. Later education took a hold of my life. I was a school teacher for over ten years, during which time I was a headteacher for a Buddhist school. Long story! 

My astrological leanings are both traditional, mainly Hellenistic, Persian, and early Medieval , and contemporary, mainly archetypal. I also practice astrological magic and sorcery.

I am heavily influenced by historical approaches to magic, the the mixing of magical traditions throughout the world, by an animist view of the Cosmos, by art and art-making, by visionary and ecstatic practices, and interpretive arts. My mission is to reveal to myself and others the absolute vitality of the world, including our minds, and our imaginations, to rehaunt outer and inner landscapes, and to spread the word that we are inhabitants of an enchanted world.

Cunning as Folk

Cunning as Folk is a platform for me to share my journey on the currents of a mystical and magical life, exploring where it connects with others and the broader world. It is also a chance for me offer my skills as a teacher, mentor, diviner, astrologer, and sorcerer. My passion is giving to others what I love.. I deeply appreciate those that join me in this adventure.
