-We will delve into the darkness through practices, contemplations, provocations, and reflections drawing from lore, mysticism, magic, and witchcraft.
-We will explore Mercury's role as Psychopomp and guide of the dead, as well as become familiar with several other Crossroads and Underworld god-forms.
-Receive practical insights into forming right relation with your ancestors, the spirits of the land, and the Underworld.

Delineation Workshop
Coming from Latin delineatus, roughly de- “completely” + lineare “draw lines”, delineation is the complex way that astrologers portray in words the understandings that arise from the chart.
The art and craft of describing the astrological in words effectively involves a heightened awareness. Of the multitude of factors, the prioritisation of particular elements over others, chart delineation is founded on very simple, yet profound principles that open the chart to exacting descriptions when combined with keeping the awareness alive to the surprising subtleties.
In this workshop JD will take you through the astrological fundamentals needed for effective delineation. A focus is given, as well, to sharpening our awareness and practices of seeing as they are foundational to moving beyond basics.

Archetypal Astrology: Part of the Cultivating Mastery Series
Within astrology, the philosophy of archetypes runs deep within our tradition. In particular, the work of Plato and Jung have laid our course. When something lies so close to the heart, the influence is pervasive. Focusing our eye on it directly reveals the deep patterning we foretell in our astrology. We can learn a great deal from these two greats, as well as from the application and extension of their ideas emerging from the fields of archetypal astrology and cosmology.

Cultivating Mastery: Intermediate Astrology Course
Some of you may know that one of my other hats is as the chair for the Scottish Astrological Association. Over here we've been cookin' up something of great interest to myself—comprehensive, accessible astrology education with ample opportunity for tutorial practice. I am proud to say that along with two of my colleagues we've done just that.
CULTIVATING MASTERY is an intermediate astrology programme covering the historical, philosophical, and the practical breadth of the astrological tradition with opportunities for focused tutorials for practicing application of what you learn
In the last two years, Anna Estaroth has pioneered the online delivery of classes taught in conjunction with the SAA. This year the SAA is offering its most comprehensive programme of intermediate astrology classes ever. Mark Cullen and JD Kelley join Anna to deliver a course dedicated to cultivating mastery in your practice of astrology.
The main course will be taught live via Zoom with the opportunity for Q&A. Each session will be held from 6:30pm-8:30pm (UTC) on Mondays and Thursday until Thursday, March 25, then, due to daylight savings time in the UK, from 5:30pm-7:30pm (UTC) from Monday, March 28. All lectures will be recorded and made available to students immediately afterwards along with any material shared in the session.
Supplementary sessions are offered for practice and application. An optional workshop on delineation will be held in late March, as well as fortnightly practice-focused tutorials starting in April. Both the workshop and the tutorials will be held with no more than fifteen students per session to facilitate guidance and practice. All sessions will be held live via Zoom.

Mark Cullen studied with the Faculty of Astrological Studies and later completed Deborah Houlding's STA qualification in horary astrology. He was chair of the Scottish Astrological Association from 2011-16 and has been mundane astrology moderator on the Skyscript website since 2010. Mark is a strong advocate of the predictive power of mundane astrology. With an MA in history, Mark is an enthusiastic researcher into topics as diverse as ancient and medieval and renaissance astrology, fixed stars, declination, lunar nodes, comets and national charts. His most recent research area is financial astrology and stock market trends. Mark’s spiritual outlook is influenced by a long term involvement in Buddhism since his early twenties. He lives in Edinburgh working as a manager in the voluntary sector.

History, Philosophy, & Icons
As part of CULTIVATING MASTERY: Intermediate Astrology Course in conjunction with the Scottish Astrological Association (SAA), we are offering each of the four modules individually.
Astrology is a practice that has been shaped by the profound history of human interaction with the living sky. As astrologers the more aware we are of this history, the philosophies that gave shape to the eyes of the ancestors of our craft, and the icons that left deep marks on this lineage, the further we move into relation to this profound history. This module explores the warp and weft of the astrological tradition steaming from its ancient past of central and western Asia, northern Africa and into Europe, and North America. Cultivating mastery requires an awareness of our lineage for we stand on the shoulders of those that came before us even as we look to the sky with contemporary eyes.

Seeing the Sky: The Art of Natal Chart Delineation
Seeing may be the most important tool of the exacting astrologer. When we see with clarity we are with the sky, with the dance of the spheres, and the play of light and dark. The chart will dance.
In the last many years there has been an explosion of information and discourse on astrology full of delineation, tenets, and techniques. Occasionally we are presented with a precise approach for delineation drawn from this school or that. I adore it all. It is, however, only opinion.
What is very rare is instruction that establishes a method of seeing. For this I am indebted to the cartomancer, teacher, and scholar Camelia Elias. Her methods are seeing are the sharpest around and she is one of the major muses of my course. Equally, the work of astrologers Michael Ofek, Benjamin Dykes, Demetra George, John Frawley, and Geoffrey Cornelius have been very influential in my concept of seeing as applied to astrology.
We will begin with a strong focus on the metaphysics and methodology of seeing and a condensed review of foundational astrology concepts and competencies. As the devil is in the details, we advance by cultivating nuance through positionality and alliance, motion and stillness, light and darkness, curvature and ray. My goal is to reach that sweet spot where you understand the dance within the nativity, what is afoot among the stars, what is foretold within the sky.

Course delivery: Taught over four weeks. Registration will close Thursday, January 14th 11:00pm (GMT). Our first session will be live via Zoom Saturday, January 15th from 7:00-9:00pm (GMT). The Night Time of Year: A Numinous Journey
What if I were to tell you that the dead are always with us?
This truth is attested to by most of the world's contemporary and all of the world's known past cultures. It is only relatively recently and in a small portion of us that have forgotten this fact. Something that we can all agree on, however, is that without those that come before, we are not a thing. A subtle point that might be easy to overlook, we can only be in right relation with those that will follow, our descendants, by being in right relation with the ancestors.
Most cultures around the world have times that give particular emphasis to those that have come before. For many of us Halloween, All Hallows' Eve, October 31st is such a time. Upon closer inspection, we see that historically this period is marked by a number of important times and that indeed, especially in farther northern latitudes, was an entire season dedicated to renewing our relationship with the numinous and otherworldly forces whose power and presence grew ever important at this time. The darker and colder months were times of famine and death for many. It was understood that our survival was dependent on our right relation with the ancestors, the land, and her spirits.

No prior astrological knowledge is required. The focus is on understanding astrology through the interpretation of your own chart. Each session we explore, via guided imagery, the meanings of the planets; learning to appreciate the extraordinary variations within astrology from one another.
